CUMBERLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT

SCHOLARSHIP

The Cumberland Police Department offers scholarships to students from communities who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. These scholarships are part of an ongoing commitment to education and the community.

 

REQUIRMENTS

Interested students must submit a complete application and attach all of the required documentation or their application will not be reviewed. Applications may be obtained by calling the Police Department, 894-3525.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Applicant must be a resident of the Town of Cumberland.

2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, or full-time college student.

3. Applicant must be enrolled, or planning to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4-year institution following the selection. (Verification of enrollment is required) Funds will be paid by check directly to the school.  Scholarship funds will not be paid directly to the students. Scholarship funds will be applied toward tuition, fees, and other appropriate educational expenses.

4. Applicant must attach a copy of their most current transcript. Also, please attach a copy of PSAT and/or SAT scores if available.

 

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS  

Applicant must submit a personal statement that provides the following information:

*   Background

*   Community involvement

*   Career goals

*   Desire to contribute to their community

 

Information about unique personal or financial circumstances may be added.  Applicants should consider the personal statement as the equivalent to an interview.  

A one-page letter of recommendation from a teacher or school official is required. The letter should include detail of the applicant’s background, achievements, leadership abilities and community involvement.  Letters should contain personalized information about the applicant. Form letters will be given minimum consideration.
